SYNOPSIS:
Ira Chang had an ideal family; a nagging wife, a good-hearted, but naïve, son, bickering in-laws, a cheap brother, or a mother, who thank the good Lord, is still with us physically, but mentally checked out under the Reagan administration. And when the patriarch of the Chang clan passes away, personalities collide in a small New England funeral home. An original, member written farce, in its theatrical debut, "The Wake of One, Ira Chang" leaves nothing sacred in the ceremony of saying goodbye. Will Ira receive a respectable and meaningful sendoff? Highly doubtful… considering the mafia, the police, his drunken pals from the local pub, and even his mistress each rear their ugly heads. And in the eye of the insanity is the mortician, who remains an example of civility to his clients, but is more than willing to let the audience in on all their little secrets. Written in a blend of both British comedic wit and American slap-shtick physical humor, "The Wake of One, Ira Chang" is like nothing ever put on a stage before.
